Program Overview: LEADING goes beyond foundational leadership theory by embedding structured opportunities for leaders to apply their learning in the real-world context of their schools. School leaders who participate in LEADING will:
Address a school-level challenge by identifying a school-level indicator for improvement, building a change plan, leveraging leadership competencies, and applying learning from LEAD to improve the outcome.
Engage in hands-on planning exercises that mirror the tasks they will lead in their settings, such as developing a root cause analysis, building a 90-day plan, or facilitating a PLC meeting.
Collaboratively reflect and problem-solve with peers through structured cohort discussions, feedback protocols, and school-based assignments.
Apply monthly guidance from the Year-at-a-Glance, which outlines key responsibilities, timelines, and best practices aligned to the school year.
Receive ongoing support, with Community of Practice opportunities to discuss progress, troubleshoot challenges, and revise approaches in real time.
By intentionally linking each learning session to a school-based application, the LEADING program ensures new leaders gain knowledge and build the habits, systems, and confidence to lead school improvement efforts effectively.
